Mayors walk photo

Keep an eye out for Mayor Smith this October on local streets or trails. He has accepted the Blue Cross of Idaho Mayors Walking Challenge to walk 10,000 steps a day for the month of October.

Mayor Smith of the City of Lapwai has participated in the walking challenge since 2019 and has earned $7,000 for his efforts. All funds have been applied to the efforts of the City of Lapwai Léeplep Skate Park.

The Mayor’s Walking Challenge gives Idaho mayors an opportunity to earn funds for their city while doing something good for their health — walking.

This is the 13th year that Blue Cross of Idaho has offered the Mayor’s Walking Challenge, and it has allowed them to give back more than $800,000 to Idaho communities since 2014!
